Chief Honor
Peerless Systems Corp. President and Chief Executive Ed Gavaldon won the 1998 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Award for the Greater Los Angeles technology category.
Soon after joining El Segundo-based Peerless in 1995, Gavaldon took the company public and produced seven consecutive profitable quarters. The company--which provides software-based embedded imaging systems to makers of printers, copiers, fax machines and scanners--has increased its staff 60% since January 1997.
Gavaldon was one of nine winners from a pool of 100 nominees, and he will now compete against winners from other cities for national recognition. The award was presented two weeks ago at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
