2 Dead in Car Crash

Two people died and others were injured at a busy Anaheim intersection Saturday when a driver sped through a red light, overturning his pickup and crashing into two cars.

The accident happened just before 3 p.m. at Auto Center Drive and Ball Road near the 57 Freeway, police said.

Trinh Bai Ngo, 34, of Santa Ana was pronounced dead an hour later at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange. Anh Kim Dong, 50, of Santa Ana was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m. at UCI Medical Center in Orange, according to the county coroner’s office. Both were passengers in one of the cars struck by the pickup.

Police arrested the driver of the truck, who could face charges of vehicular manslaughter, Sgt. Phillip Lock said.

The driver was given a blood test, but there was no indication that he was under the influence of alcohol or other substances, officials said.

Traffic headed to a 6:05 p.m. baseball game at Edison Field was badly snarled as a result of the accident, police said.
