* “Just Shoot Me” cast member Wendie Malick was among about 650 guests who gambled their way to raising $115,000 at the June 6 Casino Night for My Friend’s Place, a Hollywood-based resource center for homeless youths. Mike Klausman, CBS Studio president and My Friend’s Place board director, was recognized for his 10 years of dedication to solving homelessness in L.A. KFI radio host Phil Hendrie was recognized for his recent on-air fund-raising program for the center. Silent auction items included a walk-on role in “Caroline in the City”; a “Seinfeld” script and a pair of Nike special edition Jerry Seinfeld sneakers, both signed by the entire cast; and a first-class dinner plate from “Titanic.” The event was held at the CBS Studio Center in Studio City.

The Marilyn and Monty Hall Statesman’s Club raised $1.2 million in a challenge campaign, culminating in the club’s annual black-tie dinner June 17, which benefited the Jewish Home for the Aging. Real estate investor Richard Ziman, his family and the co-chairs of the Statesman’s Club’s fund-raiser donated $750,000 of that total. The Ziman family was presented with the Humanitarian Award at the dinner, held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles.

More than 400 guests attended the Angeles Girl Scout Council’s “Green and White Gala” on June 3 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. The event, which included a silent auction, a Girl Scout dance, dramatic-poetry reading and a video tribute to women, raised more than $130,000 to support L.A. Girl Scout programs for more than 16,000 girls. Times Mirror Foundation President Bonnie Guiton Hill was honored with the Grace Award for serving as a role model for young women and for her participation in community affairs.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation has received $25,000, raised at Rage’s 15th anniversary gala dinner June 12. The West Hollywood restaurant and bar, which just underwent a $2-million, two-year renovation, was decked out in 14-foot-high floral arrangements. The entertainment included Jody Watley, the original Weather Girls, Kelly Price, Julie Brown, Yolanda Graves and Patti Brooks. The show was hosted by cabaret star Julie Sheppard (in her Judy Garland persona). A live auction was conducted by Brett Sherlock, vice president of Sotheby’s Beverly Hills.
