65 Firefighters, Copters Put Out Blaze at Park

Sixty-five firefighters, supported by three helicopter crews, fought a fire that broke out Tuesday at Ernest E. Debs Regional Park, city fire officials said.
The blaze began about 3:30 p.m. in the center of the park, just east of the Pasadena Freeway at Avenue 52, and blackened about three acres, Los Angeles Fire Department officials said. There were no injuries or damage to structures.
The fire was extinguished in about 70 minutes with the help of the water-dropping helicopters. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
