Police have identified the man killed Sunday in a hit-and-run crash as a 37-year-old former Anaheim resident.
Felipe Estevan Saldiva was walking on Brookhurst Street about 1:55 a.m. when a Nissan Stanza struck him and continued on, police said. The impact sent Saldiva into the path of a brown pickup that also ran over him and also left the scene, police said.
The Nissan driver, 25-year-old Derandy Jewel Morgan of Anaheim, turned himself in to police shortly afterward and failed a sobriety test, officers said. Investigators are still looking for the driver of the pickup.
Morgan was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol and fleeing the scene of an accident, police said.
Using department records, police have identified Saldiva, who also used to live in Santa Ana, but they haven’t yet located his family. Any witnesses to the accident--or anyone with information about Saldiva’s family or the other driver--are asked to call (714) 765-1861.
