City Council to Meet at Community Center
In its continuing effort to take local government to the people, the City Council has scheduled an upcoming meeting in Encino, which some believe is the first to be held in that community.
The council meeting, to be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Encino Community Center, 4935 Balboa Blvd., is the third in a 15-month series of monthly meetings to be held outside council chambers.
Until recent years, the council only occasionally ventured outside its chambers downtown to conduct the city’s business, and then only by request of council members.
In the past two years, at least three council meetings have been held in the San Fernando Valley, primarily to discuss issues of concern to the area.
Other Valley meetings are tentatively scheduled for May, July, September, December and February 1999.
