Man Severely Burned in Natural-Gas Blast
NEWBURY PARK — A Newbury Park man who was severely burned in a natural-gas explosion at his mobile home is in serious but stable condition at the USC Medical Center burn ward, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Robert Prince, 29, suffered second-degree burns over 40% of his body in the explosion that occurred about 5:30 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Newbury Road. Ventura County Fire Department officials said Tuesday they are still investigating the cause of the blast.
Prince was taken to Columbia Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, where he was stabilized, then transferred to the burn ward, said Los Robles spokeswoman Kris Carraway.
Medical center spokeswoman Sharon Wanglin said it is undetermined whether Prince will require surgery.
