Water Facility Named Plant of the Year
The Orange County Water District’s Water Factory 21 has won the California Water and Environment Assn.’s 1997 Plant of the Year award.
Water Factory 21 participated in the association’s Santa Ana River Basin competition against other plants in Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties that produce more than 10 million gallons of water each day.
The award evaluates every aspect of running a large water facility, such as operations and maintenance, general appearance, safety, laboratory work, compliance with regulations, research and development, and staff training.
Water Factory 21 is now eligible for the association’s California State Award. Located in Fountain Valley, Water Factory 21 was the worldwide prototype treatment facility for reuse of highly treated waste water.
