Teenage Pedestrian Dies in Apparent Gang Shooting
A teenager walking along a Pico Rivera street was killed by an attacker who stepped out of a car, walked up to the victim and shot him four times before driving away, authorities said.
Anthony Escobeda, 17, was fatally wounded about 9:20 p.m. Monday in the 4100 block of Layman Avenue, said Sgt. David Halm, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
Two suspects, Ivan Morales, 18, of Los Angeles, and Mike Pozo, 20, of Montebello, were arrested after the shooting, which appeared to be gang-related, Halm said. Authorities did not disclose which of the two suspects is the alleged gunman.
