Class Size Focus of New TV Feature
Los Alamitos TV will debut a news magazine feature Saturday, showing cable subscribers how the state’s class-size reduction program works in a local kindergarten.
The first installment of “Focus on Los Alamitos Schools: A Video Magazine” includes 30 minutes of footage from Donna Chafe’s kindergarten class at McGaugh School in Seal Beach. Chafe, the district’s teacher of the year, began teaching kindergarten 35 years ago. This, however, is the first time she has worked with a class of only 20 pupils.
Participating in a round-table discussion are Matthew Duggan, past president of the Los Alamitos Unified School District Board of Education, Lorie Gonia, assistant superintendent of instructional services, Judy Smith, McGaugh principal, and Chafe.
The second installment will feature the Orange County High School of the Arts in Los Alamitos.
The first show airs at 11:40 a.m. and 6:40 p.m. on Channel 3.
