Mayor Has Plan to Get City Noticed

When visitors enter Villa Park, Mayor Rich Freschi wants them to know that they are actually in this small city next to Orange.

“The problem is: When you get to Villa Park, you don’t know you’re here,” Freschi said.

To promote the city’s identity, Freschi today will propose to the City Council a plan to upgrade entrance signs and add signs at new locations.

The city now has five entrance signs, donated by the Villa Park Women’s League more than 20 years ago.

Those signs need to be more distinctive and updated, Freschi said.

Estimated cost is $20,000.

If the council agrees to the sign plan, contributions will be sought from civic groups, individuals, utility companies and businesses, Freschi said.

The council will meet at 7:30 tonight in chambers, 17855 Santiago Blvd. Information: (714) 998-1500.
