Give Daffodils, Help Fund Cancer Research
Daffodils are called the first flowers of spring, with their bright-yellow petals symbolizing hope--especially for those suffering from cancer.
The American Cancer Society will soon launch its annual Daffodil Days fund-raiser in which the flowers are given to patients, survivors and others touched by cancer.
The goal this year is to raise $330,000 for research, education and patient services.
More than $1 million has been raised in the last nine years.
Flowers will be delivered March 16-17.
Volunteers will accept donations of $7 for 10 daffodils, $10 for 10 in a vase, $55 for blooms in a cobalt vase and $110 for a corporate basket.
Residents can give anonymously to cancer patients with a $10 gift.
The deadline to order is Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.
