Plan to Build $70-Million Retail Complex Unveiled

A Beverly Hills property firm unveiled a plan Monday to build a $70-million Art Deco-style entertainment/retail marketplace at Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street in Hollywood.
S. Regent Properties will develop the Hollywood Marketplace that will feature a multiscreen movie theater, bookstore, multimedia store, apparel shop, restaurants and boutiques, a company manager said. The marketplace will be built on a three-acre site to replace a mostly vacant retail strip and other buildings, the company said.
“This project addresses Hollywood’s problem of being under-retailed,” Regent manager Douglas Brown said. “Why must shoppers from the Hollywood Hills travel to Burbank to buy toys for their children or the latest CD from Jewel?”
