Council to Vote on Closing Street for Mall Project
- Share via
The Rolling Hills Estates City Council is scheduled to make a final decision tonight on a proposal to close off a portion of a street that runs behind the Shops of Palos Verdes to allow a developer to build a pedestrian promenade.
Cousins Properties Inc., which has developed retail centers nationwide, entered into a contract to purchase the mall last month, but the developer stressed that the purchase of the mall was contingent on the City Council’s approval of a pedestrian promenade.
The Planning Commission recommended that the council approve the plan to close off Deep Valley Drive earlier this month. In recent weeks, council members have expressed support for the project, saying the proposed development would be a boost to the local economy.
