Flight attendants asked a federal court in Miami to reject a proposed $349-million settlement with tobacco companies that includes no money for individual flight attendants who became ill after breathing secondhand smoke. The proposed settlement called for the creation of a $300-million medical research foundation and payment of $49 million in legal fees and expenses. Objections filed on behalf of more than 40 attendants mainly attack the seemingly high attorney payments. . . . Vornado Realty Trust of Saddle Brook, N.J., agreed to buy certain real estate holdings of the Kennedy family, including Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, for $625 million.
