SAN FRANCISCO — Dozens of tourists were sickened Sunday morning by a mysterious illness believed to be food poisoning.
Ambulances arrived at the Hyatt Regency in Union Square after hotel guests complained of vomiting, diarrhea and dizziness. Seven people suffering from dehydration were taken to hospitals where they were treated and released.
The tourists, from across the United States, were part of a 200-member group of educators visiting San Francisco for a computer conference.
Some had been on a dinner cruise the night before, although what caused the sickness was not expected to be known for several days. Authorities said they will trace where and what the educators ate during their stay.
