Parents Help Save, Expand Day Care
The La Habra City School District’s only day-care center at the Arbolita school site was headed for certain death. Then parents complained vehemently. Now the program has been rescued, and by the time school starts in the fall, it will be even bigger.
District trustees last year said overcrowded conditions would force them to use the campus housing the day-care center for an elementary school by the end of this school year.
But recently, trustees said they found extra space at three other schools and will be able to continue offering the program and expand it from an enrollment of about 250 children.
About 30 employees who are being laid off from the old program are being encouraged to apply to the new center.
