Busta commits: Crescenta Valley High linebacker Jesse Busta said he has committed to Utah State.
Busta, a Times’ All-Valley selection, visited the Logan, Utah, campus last weekend and notified the Aggie coaching staff of his decision Wednesday night.
“I’m pretty happy to be going there,†said the 6-2, 235-pound Busta, who helped Crescenta Valley to its first Pacific League championship. “It will be nice to get away from L.A.â€
Busta joins a Utah State program that returns only one starting linebacker from a team that was 6-6 and played in the Humanitarian Bowl.

Skake-up possible: The Southern Section is developing a new leaguing proposal because of concerns with competitive equity.
The Southern Section Executive Committee is to submit a plan to the Southern Section Council by April 28. If a new proposal is adopted, releaguing might be implemented for the 1999-2000 school year.
Services for List: Funeral services for former North Hollywood High baseball player Paul List will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills, in the Old North Church.
List, 32, died Tuesday from complications of Hodgkin’s disease.
