Man Found Fatally Shot in Home
LANCASTER — A man was found shot to death in his home by a family member Thursday morning, and while investigating the death homicide detectives uncovered a clandestine methamphetamine lab in the backyard, authorities said.
Whether the dead man was connected to the lab was not immediately known, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Cross.
The body of Celestino Perez, 58, was found about 11:40 a.m. in the 47800 block of 65th Street East by a family member who had gone to the house to check on the man’s welfare. He had been shot several times in the upper body, Cross said.
Homicide detectives checking the rural property for additional victims found a methamphetamine lab in an outbuilding, she said. Sheriff’s narcotics detectives and county health officials were en route late Thursday night to investigate.
