UC IRVINE (6-8, 3-1) at PACIFIC (10-8, 2-2), 7, KUCI-FM--It’s another difficult task for the first-place Anteaters, but aren’t they all? Pacific was the preseason favorite to repeat as conference champion, but point-guard woes have hurt them. Earl Clark couldn’t provide offense. Scott Thomason (5 feet 8) was a defensive liability. Since shooting guard Adam Jacobsen was moved in, things have been better. The Tigers are without forward Jason Williams for three weeks because of a broken left index finger. Even with all their troubles, the Tigers still have 7-foot Michael Olowokandi, who averages 20 points and 10 rebounds.
