A Covina psychologist has surrendered his license after being accused of having a five-year sexual relationship with a patient, state authorities announced Wednesday.
A complaint filed with the state Board of Psychology alleges that Eric Gustafson had a sexual relationship with a 37-year-old female patient who had been hospitalized for depression. The relationship allegedly lasted from late 1991 to 1995.
Gustafson’s attorney, Mark Levin, said his client denies the allegations but agreed to hand over his license Dec. 31.
The suspension remains in effect for three years, after which Gustafson can petition for reinstatement.
