Lawsuit Filed to Stop Minor League Team
An Oxnard resident has filed a lawsuit to block a minor league baseball team from playing at the Oxnard College stadium, charging that the city violated the California Environmental Quality Act and its own General Plan.
The suit was filed against the city of Oxnard, Pacific Suns owner Don Di Carlo and the Ventura County Community College District.
Resident Dennis Ralph accuses the city of agreeing to bring the team to the stadium before studying traffic, noise, glare and other problems.
The suit asks for a judge’s order preventing the team from expanding the stadium or playing there until more environmental study is completed.
A judge will consider the request Feb. 2. The team plans to open its season in May.
