Stachowski Scores 7 for Capistrano Valley
Junior Ashley Stachowski combined her offensive prowess with her tough defensive play to score seven goals and make seven steals to help second-ranked Capistrano Valley to a 16-5 victory over Mater Dei in South Coast League girls’ water polo.
Stachowski, who scored five of her goals in the first quarter, was joined by teammate Chelsea Rowlands, who added six goals in the Cougars’ league opener. Stachowski’s sister, Amber, scored two goals for Capistrano Valley (11-3, 1-0). Erin Kelly scored twice for Mater Dei (11-4,, 0-1).
In the Orange League:
Valencia 9, Savanna 5--Jana Larson scored six goals and Tiffani Clark added two for Valencia (3-7, 1-0).
