J.M. Taylor; Investment Executive, Webb Schools Chairman
J.M. Taylor, 50, scion of a wealthy philanthropic Pasadena family who rose to become executive vice president of Prudential Securities Inc. Taylor attended the private Webb Schools of California and later became president and chairman of its board of trustees. He also attended San Marino High School, Pasadena Polytechnic, Menlo College and USC. Taylor served on the boards of the Hathaway Home for Children and the Pasadena Foundation for Medical Research. His investment career began with E.F. Hutton, which named him Los Angeles office manager in 1979. Three years later, Taylor moved to Prudential-Bache Securities as vice president to open its Los Angeles office for institutional investing. The company transferred him to New York in 1987 and promoted him to executive vice president in 1993. Taylor was a member of the Securities Industry Assn. Trading Committee and was an exchange official of the American Stock Exchange. On Saturday in Rye, N.Y., of cancer.
