Donation Will Enable Boys Town to Open Home
A Los Angeles businessman’s donation to Boys Town USA will be used to institute a group home in this area, officials said Thursday.
The home is scheduled to open as a Boys Town facility March 1, said Father Val J. Peter from Boys Town’s Omaha headquarters. He said the donor asked to remain anonymous.
The national, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization cares for troubled youths and families in crisis. Through its facilities around the country and other programs, the organization served about 31,000 young people last year, Peter said.
“There’s a great storm across America, and it’s blowing at gale force at families, schools and all society,” he said. “Usually, when a storm blows, agencies and people run for cover to wait out the storm. But we do just the opposite. We take youth who are out of control and teach them self-control through teaching skills and building relations.”
