Fourth-ranked Capistrano Valley plays at second-ranked San Clemente Tuesday in the first of two games that probably will decide the South Coast League champion. The Cougars are led by Monique Mathews (17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds), but San Clemente has superior depth and Colleen Turnbull (15.4 points, 8.8 rebounds), the county’s outstanding player so far this season.
Century, upset by Loara in overtime, plays at seventh-ranked El Dorado Tuesday in a game matching two of the county’s outstanding post players, Century’s Aprile Powell (21.5 points, 15.3 rebounds) and El Dorado’s Stephanie Patten (16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds).
Foothill, defending Century League champion, could make or break its season as it hosts Canyon tonight and plays Tuesday at Villa Park. Canyon already has lost to Villa Park.
