Ward Helps Newport Harbor Upset Fourth-Ranked Ocean View

Newport Harbor’s Mark Ward made two free throws with three seconds left in the game to clinch a 55-52 upset victory over fourth-ranked Ocean View in a nonleague boys’ basketball game Saturday night at Newport Harbor.
Scott Archbold scored 19 points for Newport Harbor (10-5) and Matt Jameson had nine points and seven assists for the Sailors.
In other nonleague games:
Servite 56, Trabuco Hills 55--A baseline jumper by Steve Shea with two seconds left won the game for Servite (10-4).
The Friars had a one-point lead with 30 seconds left when Trabuco Hills’ Evan Fields made two free throws to give Mustangs (9-6) a 55-54 lead.
Kennedy 50, Fullerton 47--Kennedy outscored Fullerton, 20-9, in the fourth quarter to recover from a 14-point halftime deficit. Michael Bridgeford scored 14 points for Fullerton (6-9).
Marina 80, Westminster 56--Scott Austin had 25 points and 25 rebounds for Marina (7-7).
No. 1 Santa Margarita 66, Esperanza 49--Santa Margarita gave up five points in the second quarter and seven in the third. Kevin Brown scored 10 points for Esperanza (7-7).
Pasadena Poly 75, St. Margaret’s 49--Alex Huff scored 21 points for St. Margaret’s (3-7).
