Gov. Wilson

The Times editorial board has absolutely lost its mind, giving Gov. Pete Wilson praise in its Dec. 26 editorial, “Time of Smiles for Pete Wilson.” Gov. Pete “I won’t run for president” Wilson has shown a callous disregard for the people of the state of California with a record showing that he is only out for himself.
From his lies about his presidential aspirations in his 1994 gubernatorial campaign to his use of race as a wedge issue with his support of Props. 187 and 209, Wilson is an opportunist only waiting for his next try for 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., and he will use any means at his disposal to fool the electorate to get what he wants. He certainly fooled The Times in 1994 when The Times broke with its tradition of not endorsing gubernatorial candidates by supporting Wilson over Kathleen Brown.
Wilson, described in the current editorial as “. . . a decidedly pleasant and engaging fellow, in addition to being well-read and a fine conversationalist,” is now fooling The Times all over again.
