* The San Francisco Ballet presents the West Coast premiere of Lar Lubovitch’s “Othello,” based on Shakespeare’s original, March 31-April 5. At right: Yuan Yuan Tan as Desdemonia and Yuri Possokhov as Othello. War Memorial Opera House, 301 Van Ness at Grove, (415) 865-2000.
* “Golden Child,” the drama about cultural assimilation, loss and the consequences of change by Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang (“M. Butterfly”), continues through March 15 at the American Conservatory Theater. April 1-26, “Mary Stuart,” a new translation from the original German play, written by Friedrich Schiller, about the struggle between Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I of England. * The 16th Annual Asian American Film Festival, March 5-12, opens with 35 documentaries, shorts, and experimental films and videos from North America, the Pacific and the Asian diaspora.
