Students Gear Up for Speech Contest

Elementary school students will display their public-speaking skills in the Pleasant Valley school district’s annual speech tournament next month.
The fourth-grade contest will be held March 24, the fifth-graders will speak March 25, and the sixth-graders will compete March 26. The tournament begins each day at 3:45 p.m. and runs to 6. It will be held at Los Altos Intermediate School at 700 Temple Ave.
Two coaching workshops will be held March 5 and 6 at 3:15 p.m.
Parents can register their children for the tournament by submitting forms to teachers by March 3. For more information, call speech tournament coordinator Marilyn Bjork at 484-9948.
