Construction to Begin on Racetrack Area Project
- Share via
Construction is expected to begin this month on a $2.2-million improvement project for the entrance of the Los Alamitos Racetrack and neighboring businesses.
The City Council approved the creation of an assessment district to pay for street, sidewalk, sewer and other improvements in the track area at Walker Street and Katella Avenue.
The district authorizes the city to pay for the construction with public bonds and assess the costs to the area’s 10 property owners over the next 25 years. The property owners approved the assessment district in a recent vote.
Mark Christoffels, the city’s director of Public Works, said construction should be complete in about three months.
