Re “French Guidance,” letter, Feb. 8: Let’s hope the French are not as prone to stereotyping as we are. They could think, reading Susan Self’s letter, that all Americans are arrogant boors.
A little humility, some cultural awareness, and a willingness to learn from others could go a long way to earn us some respect abroad. And maybe to be taken more seriously when we need help in our international ventures--let’s say, Iraq.
