In other Division I-A games:
Mater Dei 70, La Verne Damien 43--Mike Bayer scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds and Derrick Mansell added 16 points for the Monarchs (19-7).
Edison 49, Dana Hills 47--Jeff Harrell made a jump shot with two seconds left for Edison (13-13). Zack Killiak had 16 points and teammate Daniel Nehrig had 13 points for the Chargers.
Tim McKee scored 17 points for Dana Hills (13-14).
Edison will play San Bernardino Pacific in the second round.
In Division I-AA:
Lakewood Artesia 71, Fountain Valley 42--Jason Kapono scored 20 points to lead top-seeded Artesia (26-1), which outscored Fountain Valley, 25-8, in the fourth quarter. Eric Edmunds led the Barons (15-12) with 12 points.
El Toro 59, Downey Warren 53--Mark Wulfemeyer (20 points) made a three-pointer with four seconds left to give El Toro (19-8) the lead going into the second half when the Chargers went on a 16-8 run in the third quarter. El Toro will play Artesia.
Lawndale Leuzinger 57, Century 48--Century came within five with two minutes left but Leuzinger (17-8) sealed the victory by making three of four free throws in the last minute. Mike Zepeda scored 18 for Century (19-8).
Capistrano Valley 66, Upland 55--Upland took a 5-0 lead to open the game, but Capistrano Valley answered with a 17-5 run. Mike Stowell scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds for Capistrano Valley (19-8). The Cougars will play Chino Hills Ayala in the second round.
Oxnard 54, Los Alamitos 52--Jeff Fouchey made a 17-footer with three seconds left to win the game for Oxnard (17-8). Fouchey had 16 points for Oxnard.
Matt Komer had 13 points for host Los Alamitos (17-9).
In Division II-A:
Pacifica 77, Valencia 59--Adam Rachlin scored 14 points and Bryan Wislocki added 11 for Pacifica. The Mariners (23-4) led, 37-22, at halftime. Dalen DeMary scored 18 points to lead Valencia (11-16). Pacifica will play the winner of the game between Moorpark and Culver City in the second round.
Servite 57, El Modena 50--Steve Shea scored 17 points and had 10 rebounds and Rafael Zielonka scored 16 points and had 11 rebounds to lead Servite (21-6), which outscored El Modena 33-26 in the second half. Servite will play Sonora in the second round.
Sonora 66, El Monte Mountain View 36--Jeffrey Berokoff scored 31 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Matt Anderson had 10 points for Sonora (23-4).
In Division III-AA:
Bolsa Grande 68, Lakewood Mayfair 61--Duc Nguyen made six three-pointers as Bolsa Grande set a school record for victories in a season. Nguyen finished with 27 points and teammate Lamar Holloway had 19 points for Bolsa Grande (21-6).
Bolsa Grande will play Ocean View in the second round.
Magnolia 70, Brawley 45--Zamiro Bennem broke two school records with 30 points and four assists in the first-round victory for fourth-seeded Magnolia (23-4). Bennem broke the career scoring record with 1,317 points. The previous record was set by Mike Goff with 1,270 points (1984-88). Bennem also broke the single-season assist record with 161. Gary Flood set the previous record of 157 in 1968-69.
Eric McGhee scored 16 points for Magnolia, which will play the winner of the game between Pomona and San Luis Obispo.
Ocean View 65, Monrovia 42--David Hatch scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead top-seeded Ocean View (22-4), which led 27-19 at the half. Garid Beeler added 12 points, including three three-pointers and Kevin Hanson scored 12 points.
In Division III-A:
Estancia 74, La Puente Bassett 60--James Dawkings scored a game-high 27 points and Brett Valbuena added 20 for visiting Estancia. The Eagles (18-9) will face San Dimas in the second round.
