NEW YORK : NAACP to Choose New Chairman

The selection of a new leader of the NAACP heads the agenda for the national civil rights’ organization’s annual meeting in New York, a spokesman said. Chairwoman Myrlie Evers-Williams surprised some members when she said she would not seek another term, spokesman Dan Willson said. Evers-Williams, 64, is the widow of Medgar Evers, a civil rights activist slain in Mississippi in 1963.
