ChromaVision Medical Systems Inc.: The San Juan Capistrano developer of an automated microscope system and other imaging technologies said it lost $1.4 million, or 8 cents a share, for the fourth quarter, compared with a net loss of $2 million, or 19 cents a share, for the 1996 fourth quarter. The net loss for the year totaled $6.3 million, or 47 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $4.4 million for 1996. Revenue for the 1997 fourth quarter and year was $43,500. No revenue was reported for the 1996 periods.
The company, which was incorporated March 28, 1996, attributed the larger net loss for 1997 to an increase in the number of personnel necessary to support increased research, product development initiatives, clinical trials and relocation costs for moving to California.
