Eastern Medicine Helps Her Recovery

Right on, Mary! (“Mary’s Story: A Battle With Breast Cancer,” Feb. 9.) As a 37-year-old, 3 1/2-year survivor of breast cancer, I couldn’t agree more with Mary’s belief in combining Western medicine with Eastern medicine. Based on my own experience, I survived four months of chemotherapy without missing a beat, supplementing various Chinese herbs and vitamins along the way and exercising daily.
My recovery continued after surviving a stem cell replacement, again contributing to my success with these supplements. I believe there is a place for both, and women would be foolish not to research Eastern medicine and Western medicine together as a cure for this dreadful disease.
