Dogged by Leash Law

My husband and I read with interest, pleasure and some small dismay Ann Connors’ Weekend Escape (“Dogs ‘n’ Dunes,” Jan. 18) regarding Sea Ranch.
We have owned a small rental house there for the past 20 years. The dismay began with the accompanying picture of a dog, apparently leashless, on what appears to be the outdoor area of the ranch.
While it must be very tempting to let a dog run loose on the many bluff and forest trails there, it is strictly forbidden by the Sea Ranch Assn. There are many deer, rabbits, wild turkeys and other wild animals on the ranch, as well as children, hikers and cyclists who do not enjoy being accosted by dogs.
