Students in the Dana Hills High School Orchestra need to raise about $29,000 for a trip to Washington in July as the state’s representative for a performance commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Washington Monument.
The orchestra is scheduled to perform July 15-19 at several landmarks, including the Sylvan Theater and Lincoln Memorial. Linda Price, director of instrumental music at Dana Hills High School, said the orchestra has received superior ratings at various festivals held by the 1997 Southern California Schools Orchestra and Band Assn.
Students are holding a dessert performance at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at the school. Tickets are $5.
