Council Rejects Proposal for Golf Driving Range

After hours of heated comment from residents, the City Council has voted 4 to 0 to deny a proposal to build a golf driving range on 15.5 acres owned by Cerritos College.
The property on Studebaker Road and 166th Street is zoned for open space. The council voted Thursday to keep that zoning. In the past, the land has been used to grow strawberries.
Family Golf Centers, based in El Segundo, had proposed building a two-story driving range, a clubhouse, practice greens and batting cages.
