City Might Seek Grant for Youth Program

The City Council will consider applying for a $360,000 grant to fund a program aimed at boosting the self-esteem and social skills of troubled youths on probation.
The grant would pay for a program run by the city’s Recreation and Community Services Agency aimed at strengthening family ties and steering children away from crime and violence. Police and various nonprofit organizations also would participate, a city report said.
The Orange County Probation Department would provide the grant money. The council will meet Tuesday to consider the program
