Mayor Riordan

[Mayor Richard Riordan] and his City Council should take a lesson in listening.
We Valley people are tired of the goofy decisions made by the ivory tower gang over the hill, which includes the mayor. When we hear things like an illegal adult male club getting the approval of council members based on their own sexual agenda, it’s frustrating. Then, the leaf blowers being banned because the noise crybabies in wealthy areas have a hard time taking their naps while the gardeners are working on their lawns is so stupid it is almost laughable. They fight propositions we vote for and use our tax money to do it. They approve of their members getting caught with drugs. The list goes on and on.
The mayor is taking the same approach in dealing with the San Fernando Valley concerning our desire to separate from the big money pit called greater Los Angeles. Instead of hearing our concerns he tells the Encino / Studio City leaders to be partners in keeping Los Angeles as one unit (“Riordan Meets Local Secession Bid Leaders,” Jan 24). What he should have done was call meetings across the entire Valley in order to hear from average, everyday people instead of just the wealthy folks south of the boulevard. He needs to listen in order to learn and then go on to govern.
