An outdoor roller hockey rink, identified as one of the top recreational needs by young people in a recent city survey, will soon become reality in Brea.
The City Council has agreed to spend $45,000 for the rink, which will be built in the northeast corner of the Brea Community Center parking lot.
The project will replace the existing asphalt with a six-inch concrete surface. A storage area for hockey equipment also will be built.
The city will receive bids for the project later this month, and officials hope to begin construction at the end of March.
