Council to Reconsider Restaurant Restriction
- Share via
After the business community criticized the City Council for restricting the hours a restaurant on Coast Highway could have outdoor dining, the council will reconsider its decision Monday.
It was residents’ concerns about noise from Windows on the Bay that pushed the council to ban outdoor dining after 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and after 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. No live music or special events, such as wedding receptions, will be allowed outdoors under the permit’s restrictions.
Since the Jan. 26 hearing, several local business people, including restaurant owners and the president of the Newport Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce, have criticized the decision, calling it “anti-business.”
The council meets Monday at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 3300 W. Newport Blvd. Information: (714) 644-3309.
