Northridge Lands a Big Football Commitment

Cal State Northridge’s football team Saturday received a commitment from Jake Ashabraner, a tackle from Anaheim Esperanza High.
Ashabraner, 6 feet 3 and 300 pounds, was selected to The Times’ All-Orange County team and was and an All-Sunset League pick.
“[Northridge] is a great program that’s on the rise,” Ashabraner said.
“It’s going in a forward direction.”
TENNIS
Battling Bryans: Stanford men’s tennis players Bob and Mike Bryan of Camarillo are scheduled to compete in singles and doubles Thursday through Saturday in the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Tennis Championships at Brookhaven Country Club and Moody Coliseum in Dallas.
Both are graduates of Rio Mesa High and sophomores at Stanford. Bob is the top-ranked college singles player in the nation.
Mike, who battled injuries during his freshman season at Stanford, is ranked No. 11 in singles.
They are ranked eighth in doubles.
Southern Methodist hosts the event, which is the third leg of the Intercollegiate Tennis Assn. Grand Slam.
The field includes 32 players in the singles draw and 16 doubles teams.
