Martinez Beats Jasso

Mauricio Martinez of Panama retained his North American Boxing Organization bantamweight title by stopping Edgar Jasso of Los Angeles at the end of the 10th round Monday at Arrowhead Pond.
Martinez took control after flooring Jasso with a right hand in the sixth round and won rounds 7-10 before Jasso was forced to retire because of a broken nose. He was injured in the sixth.
Jasso, 18, won the first three rounds and floored Martinez in the second. Martinez, 23, closed the gap by dropping Jasso in the fourth. Martinez, who weighed 118 pounds, improved to 13-3 with seven knockouts.
