COMPTON — Two unrelated shootings in Compton left three people dead in less than five hours Sunday night and early Monday, police said.
About 11:20 p.m. Sunday, police found Richard Bines, 40, and Darlene Jones, 44, both with gunshot wounds to their heads in the 2500 block of Alondra Boulevard, said a Compton police spokesman. Paramedics rushed both to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
Witnesses told police that they heard Bines and Jones talking with someone before shots were fired, but detectives have no suspects.
Hours later, officers were called to another shooting about two miles from the first. Fernando Quinonez, 18, of Compton was shot in the head while walking along the sidewalk in the 1100 block of Willowbrook Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives have no motive for either incident and are urging anyone with information to call the Compton Police Department’s homicide bureau at (310) 605-6539.
