Eleven inmates suffered minor injuries during a brawl at a detention facility in Lynwood, authorities said Monday.
The fight, which broke out about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, involved about 100 inmates at the Century Regional Detention Facility, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Angie Prewett.
Prewett said she did not know what incited the melee, which pitted African American inmates against Latino inmates.
Sheriff’s deputies quelled the brawl in about two minutes without the use of force, she said. The injured inmates, suffering mild cuts and bruises, were treated at the facility’s clinic, she said. No deputies were hurt.
