Jail Death

Was it coincidence or a clever editor who placed Patt Morrison’s column “Paying the Price” (Aug. 12) next to “FBI Probing Death of Inmate in Tussle With Jail Deputies”? Whatever the outcome of that investigation, I know I am getting tired of footing the bill for Sheriff Sherman Block and his gung-ho deputies. When will the people of L.A. County wake up to the fact that for too long we have been taken for a very expensive ride. I just wonder what Block and his crew would do if they had to foot the bill on their own. Declare bankruptcy, I suppose!

They’ve been bankrupt for too long in the basic canons of law enforcement and we pay the price.
