*** Joaquin Sabina & Fito Paez, “Enemigos Intimos,†BMG. Two masters in the art of combining bittersweet words with melancholy music join in this unusual effort. Argentine pop-rock singer Fito Paez experiments playfully with keyboards and samples, while Spaniard Joaquin Sabina lends his deep voice and bohemian sensibilities to the mix. “Enemigos†doesn’t match the artistic grandeur of Paez’s exquisite 1992 collection, “El Amor Despues del Amor,†but magical moments abound.
Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
