Man Arrested in Attack on MTA Bus Driver
A man suspected of hijacking a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus and raping the bus driver in San Pedro last week was arrested Thursday morning, police said.
Andre Lamont Woods, 19, was arrested at his Los Angeles home at 6 a.m., said Los Angeles police Officer Don Cox.
Woods was booked at police headquarters downtown and is being held on $400,000 bail.
His arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
Woods allegedly boarded a bus Friday night in South-Central Los Angeles and rode to San Pedro, where the other passengers got off.
He told the driver he had a knife, sexually assaulted her and took her purse, Cox said.
Then he got behind the steering wheel and drove to downtown Los Angeles, Cox said.
The suspect allegedly crashed the bus into a store on 8th Street and fled.
